April 12, 1998 DOCTORS ON STRIKE ----------------- Right now is not the time to get sick in Barbados.... BAMP (the doctors union) has nearly shut down the Queen Elizabeth hospital... in their war with the Government of Barbados over the salaries and status of the junior doctors.... Right now neither side is budging.... so all we can do is wait and see. April 19, 1998 (there was a crash of my list software... so NO news was sent out) April 26, 1998 NEWS ---- The sea has claimed another life, an 18 year old youth, fishing at the Oistins jetty... fell in and drowned. and McClean,69, a fisherman for 51 years... found 6 giant conger eels in his fish pot...weighing about 70 pounds each and about 7 feet long... these are the largest ever seen to date in Barbadian waters. Hundreds of people walked, drove and even arrived in taxis at the gruesome sceen of a partially decomposed body of a woman found in the canes at Brighton Plantation, St. George.
